Suddenly on Monday January 23, 2024, Teresa crossed over into the afterlife.
Growing old is a privilege not afforded to all, and because of this Teresa never took life for granted and aged gracefully with vitality and poise. Teresa’s faith was very important to her, being a devout Catholic she met all with whom she encountered with care, compassion and kindness. She possessed a contagious smile that lit up a room and captivated people, often drawing strangers to her for some friendly conversation. Teresa loved socialising and always endeavoured to ensure that everyone felt acknowledged and included.
Teresa was born in Malito, Italy on July 8, 1939. She immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba along with her mother Maria Albi nee Matteis, who has predeceased her. Teresa is also predeceased by her husband of 63 years Emilio Nucci, with whom she partnered to become one of the first merchants on Corydon Avenue. Together they opened Nucci’s Imported Foods in 1960; a business that would last the span of 33 years. In addition, Teresa is predeceased by her children Sebastiano Franco (survived by Nathalie) and Giuseppe Nucci, and is fondly remembered by her children Mario (Rebekah), Antonio (Gary) and grandchild Michael (Danielle) and her many other adoring family members and close friends.
Teresa was strong, courageous and independent and demonstrated incredible resilience when life challenges arose. She possessed a pragmatic nature and was a beacon of positivity, optimism and hope for all those who knew her.
Today we celebrate the memory and life of this exquisite woman and her unrelenting devotion to her family, friends and community. Teresa was a devoted wife and an exceptional and loving daughter, mother and grandmother. She loved her nieces, nephews and her many cousins, and was a resolute and loyal friend who will be missed by many.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to all of the employees and community members at Venvi Portsmouth and Centro Caboto Centre for filling Teresa’s last years with joy, laughter, purpose and friendship.
A private family viewing will be held. Subsequently a Christian Liturgy and Celebration of Teresa’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 2, 2024, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church), for those who wish to honour Teresa’s memory and pay their respects to her family. This will be followed by a private family entombment.
