Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT WAYNE FINLAY
We are sad to announce the passing of Albert Wayne Finlay on February 5th, 2024.
Wayne was a great husband, father, and friend. Wayne will be greatly missed by his loving family: wife, Cathy, children, Chris (Tish), Craig (Laura) and Maria (John) as well as his grandchildren, JC, Kristian, Noah, Erika and Joey.
He was predeceased by his parents Hazel (1985) and Harold (2001), and brother Ronald (2013).
Wayne was born in Winnipeg on the 21st of May, 1940, a third-generation Winnipegger. He worked for the City of Winnipeg’s Property Assessment Department for 30 years.
For the last 28 years, Wayne enjoyed a wonderful retirement, travelling, spending winters in Arizona, golfing and helping friends and family with various projects. He was always willing to listen and was someone you felt comfortable asking for assistance. He was kind, loving and generous, always ready to give a hug. He relished a challenge and was a great collaborator on any project.
Wayne was successfully treated for lymphoma in 2013 and was able to enjoy the last 10 years in remission. We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the fabulous staff at GD6 at Health Sciences Centre and the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or CancerCare Manitoba in his name.
A service will be held on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at 10:00 am at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.

So sorry for your loss. Wayne was such a nice guy . We used to say at the department how he was one of the good guys! Both of us worked with Wayne in the Assessment Department for many years. My husband worked for him, I knew him as a friend, a respected colleague. He always treated us with the utmost respect. It was so great to hear that he had such a long retirement. We used to see him at Mcivor mall as we live in the same area. Pretty sure that you have many wonderful memories to share among your family. We will be thinking of you all.
