Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNA WINONA LOCHT
Mom passed gently to her Heavenly Father early Saturday February 10, 2024, at the age of 98.
Mom always said, "I am the most blessed person that I know." She was born in Winnipeg, the fourth child in the family. After high school she graduated in 1943 from Success Business College. She was hired as Executive Secretary to Mr. Edgar Powell, Founder and President of the Caterpillar Tractor dealership. She worked there until 1953 when she married Dad, Edward Locht. Mom was fully engaged as a farmer's wife and kept busy with two young children.
Throughout her life Mom served in many capacities at Grant Memorial Church and Bethel Baptist Church, Gideons, Stonecroft and Christian Women's Club and Providence as well as on their Board of Governors.
In later years Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in Florida. Dad predeceased her in 2017. Her life was full of many friendships, love and devotion to her family and serving her Lord and Saviour. Mom would often say "God gave us memories so that we may have roses in December." She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Karen Toews (Randy), grandchildren Kristen Guffey (Brendan) Andrew Toews (Ali); daughter Nonie Giesbrecht (Gerry), grandchildren Nathan Giesbrecht (Nadine) Maegan Fast (Nathan); six great-grandchildren; and nephew Sheldon Howe (Charlene).
The family extends many thanks to the caring staff of both the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg last year and Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care during her brief stay. A memorial for Mom will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
Donations to Providence University College and Seminary in Mom's memory are welcomed.

Dear Nonnie, Gerry and Familes, Our sincere sympathy to you on the passing of your dear Mom and Grandmother. My Mom and Dad (Asta and Bob Smart) always felt very grateful for the friendship of your parents. They were honored to be able to enjoy times in Florida and in Winnipeg with them. I remember Lorna as being such a kind and encouraging person, with a wonderful smile. Mom passed away on January 19th, so they will be enjoying time together in heaven! - Posted by: Kathy Harochaw (friend) on: Feb 27, 2024

Dear Nonnie, Gerry and families Bob and I were so saddened to hear of Lorna's passing. She was such a loving, caring person, a beautiful lady. As you know, we shared the same floor, just different wings of LLT. In earlier years, Lorna and I served on the Tenants committee together. She was always concerned about the welfare of everyone in our building. We were very fortunate to be considered friends. We, unfortunately will not be at her service, due to health reasons but offer our deepest condolences, to all her family. Sincerely, Dorothy and Bob Carswell - Posted by: Dorothy Carswell (friend) on: Feb 26, 2024
