SUSAN MARTENS
Susan Martens, nee Fehr, of Winnipeg, MB formerly of Rosser, MB passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on February 28, 2024 after a very brief battle with lung cancer.
Susan is survived by Henry, her husband of 61 years; her daughter Corinna Kachkowski (Allan); her son Christopher Martens; her son-in-law Lonnie Brady; her granddaughters, Cayla Weiske (Odin), Catie Brady (Jesse Copet); four grandsons, Hanz, Seamus, Lucas and Caelum; five sisters, Erna Dyck, Linda Lehmann, Gladys Friesen, Mabel Maxim, Bernice St. Godard; one brother Bill Fehr and their spouses; one brother-in-law Bill Toews; numerous nieces and nephews, many relatives and friends.
She is predeceased by her daughter Crystal Brady; grandson Calix Weiske; sister Kathy Toews; brother Jim Fehr; parents, Jacob and Helena Fehr and one brother-in-law Lawrence Dyck.
Susan, born the second of nine children, grew up near Lowe Farm, MB across the road from the one room school she attended till grade nine and went on to graduate from Lowe Farm Collegiate. Later in life, she graduated as a Health Care Aide and worked as a health care aide as well as Activity Coordinator in several senior homes. She loved her work at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Sargent Ave.
At age eight she opened her heart to Jesus Christ as her Saviour, followed by Baptism on the confession of her faith. Having parents who loved and promoted music, she was privileged to take piano and voice lessons. She loved to share these talents by ministering through music, especially with her Vibra Harp, at churches, care homes, and family functions. Susan's faith was very important to her and she loved to share her faith with anyone she met. She was always concerned for the salvation of her loved ones, her neighbours and everyone she came in contact with. She did this through various means such as Child Evangelism 5 Day Clubs, teaching Christian Education at schools, working with Fellowship of Christian Farmers Canada distributing walking sticks and sharing the Gospel using the Bead Story. Susan loved going to car shows with Henry to display one of Henry's many classic cars and no doubt she shared the gospel with many there as well.
The funeral service for Susan Martens will be held March 7, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Maranatha Evangelical Free Church, 910 Sturgeon Road, Winnipeg, MB. Viewing will take place at the Maranatha Evangelical Free Church one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
Special thanks go out to staff at Grace and Concordia Hospital, and Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery staff, to Pastor Dave Friesen and Maranatha Church for their compassion and care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fellowship of Christian Farmers Canada, P.O. Box 607, Alexandria, ON, K0C 1A0 fcfcanada.org

I’m so sorry Henry that you have lost your wonderful wife. I pray that God would be your comfort during this hard time. Watching Susan share the gospel using the five coloured beads and a ring of people surrounding her was a sight to behold. Sometimes she was hard to see because of those crowding around her. God bless you Henry! - Posted by: Harry Pauls (Christian Farmer volunteer friend.) on: Mar 03, 2024

Have know Susan for several years but more so when we formed the Fabulous 50's Ford Club of Manitoba back in 1994. She is one of the Founding Members and holds the position as one of the Directors. Susan held the position as the Club secretary from 1994 to 1996 at which time she had to resign as this interfered with her job. Susan always had a smile for everyone & I'll miss her very much. Lots of fond memories. Rest in Peace my friend. Sincere condolences to all the Martens family during this very difficult time today and the days to come. - Posted by: Betty Lannoo (Ford Club Member & Friend) on: Mar 03, 2024
