LILLIAN JOYCE KUSTRA

(nee PETRIW)

February 24, 1934 - March 5, 2024

After a lengthy illness, Lil passed away peacefully at the Gimli Betel Home, where she received excellent care from a wonderful staff.

She will be greatly missed by Ed, her loving husband of 68 years; her 15 nieces and nephews; as well as a large extended family and many, many friends who were very important to her.

Lil was predeceased by her brothers, Bernie and Dan, and her sisters, Olga Bilous and Mildred Gogush.

In 1983, Lil and Ed built a log cabin in Siglavik, then in 1998 moved from Winnipeg to a larger home in the same development and became permanent residents of Gimli. Here Lil continued her active lifestyle of golf, running, Tai Chi, gardening and taking visitors for “Siglavik boat rides.” Lil was a very positive lady and the most gracious hostess with a beautiful smile and a wonderful laugh.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Gimli Waterfront Centre.

“A life well lived leaves a beautiful bouquet of memories.”

  • I have been honored to know Ed and Lil for 50plus years. Through past family connections growing up, and more recently from our Siglavik experiences. Always the gracious hostess, from my visit with them in Mexico to the many dockside refreshments. You were a Joy to the rest of the World, and was a continued pleasure to know you. Condolences to “Big”, who was the perfect life partner for “Lil” - Posted by: Dave Humniski (Friend and neighbor) on: Mar 16, 2024

  • So many lovely memories of time spent with Lil (and Ed) during my time in Siglavik/Gimli. The most welcoming of women ♥️ - Posted by: Valerie Parker (Friend/neighbor ) on: Mar 16, 2024
