Our Mother, wife, baba and great-baba, Dorothy Serediuk, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side.
Dorothy was predeceased by husband Nicholas, brother Nick, sons, Kenneth and Ronald, prior daughter-in-law Kathy, granddaughter Kerri and great-grandson Cody.
She leaves behind her children, Taras (Janis), Orest (Marleen), Colleen (Harvey) and Gary; her grandchildrenh Shayne (Julie), Rayna (Scott), Hayden (Teagan), Amanda, and her great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Shaylee, Kai and Brody.
Mom and Dad lived on a farm outside of Gardenton, Manitoba and in the early 1960s moved onto an acreage in the community.
Our home in Gardenton always had an open-door policy. Everyone loved Mom’s cookies and her homemade bread.
For many years Mom was the correspondent for the Carillon News. She volunteered at the Gardenton Museum, spending many a day making perogies, holubtsi and everything else that was required.
Mom always asked about her children and was always interested in their lives. She had quite the wit, a keen sense of humour and most importantly an abundance of kindness and thankfulness for all her blessings. She also cared for children for foster care in her early years.
Her last words were “I want to go home to see my Mother”, and she did.
A funeral service in honour of Dorothy’s life will be held on Monday, March 18, at the Ukrainian Museum and Village in Gardenton, MB, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to the Gardenton Ukrainian Museum and Village Society.
