DOUGLAS ROY EDKINS

On March 9, 2024 the world lost an incredible man, Doug Edkins.

Doug was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and teacher. He was an amazing role model to all that knew him. Doug was known for his easy-going nature, kind demeanour and warm blue eyes. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his children, Kinnon Tkach (Colin), Krista Edkins Lambert (Darren), and Gregg Edkins (Kana); his eight grandchildren, Kailey, Kira, Terrin, Gage, Wyatt, Reed, Sumire and Ayano; his brother Don Edkins; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Doug was predeceased by his wife Bonnie Edkins; parents, Jack and Margaret Edkins; siblings, Morris Edkins and Marlene Bergsgaard.

Doug was born in Sudbury, Ontario on January 3, 1941 and raised in Clearwater, Manitoba. Doug taught middle school at Edmund Partridge and Ken Seaford. He spent many hours coaching both his kids and his students.

Upon retirement, Doug and Bonnie moved to Pinawa, MB where they travelled, golfed, played bridge and curled. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and ‘Papa’ taught another generation to be environmentalists.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and kindness. We love you Dad, cheers!

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, MB on March 30, 2024 at 1:00 pm.

“Always be kind.”

  • Condolences from the Ross family. - Posted by: Garnie Ross (Friend of family.) on: Mar 25, 2024

  • My deepest sympathy to all Doug’s family. I curled with Bonnie and Doug took such loving care of Bonnie. And they loved their family and were so proud of you all and Doug was such a gentleman always asking how you were doing. May all your wonderful memories you shared with your Dad and Grandpa somehow sustain you in your time of sorrow. He will live on in all your hearts. - Posted by: Marlyn Harding (Friend) on: Mar 25, 2024

  • Dear Kinnon and family, Although I had the privilege of getting to know you when I came to Weskay, my first introduction to your family was when your Dad was my teacher at Seaford. I will remember his great sense of humour, even as an early teenager. He always talked about the two of you girls and your volleyball!! Prayers and thoughts from my family to yours.
