Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICK ELFORD BUCHANAN
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Elford Buchanan.
Patrick was born to Mary and William Buchanan in 1952, and had a fun-filled and free childhood with older brother Billy in Old St. Vital. During this time, he made many lifelong friends. As a young adult, he developed a passion for music and built an enviable record collection. He also became interested in fashion and developed a strong sartorial sense that remained throughout his life.
After happily working at Manitoba Hydro for over 40 years, Patrick enjoyed retirement by spending time with family and friends in the Osborne Village and Corydon neighbourhoods.
A loving father and grandfather, Patrick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at Peanut Park. Known for his sense of humour, Patrick would regularly make friends, colleagues, and family members laugh with one-liners and turns of phrase. Though he struggled with mental illness and addiction for much of his life, he found a way to manage his illness and overcome his addictions in his last years. Throughout it all, he remained a kind and caring person. Patrick’s memory will live in the hearts of his family and friends always.
He is survived by his son Sean (Nicole); and his grandsons, Charley and Pete.
A private memorial will be held for family members in the coming weeks.

I met Patrick for the first time at the Manitoba Hydro Meter shop at 400 Dovercourt Drive. I shared many coffee breaks with Patrick and he was always telling me about his glory days in the Osborne Village. He was a wonderful guy full of humor, and stories of fun and of his family. Rest in peace Patrick, - Posted by: allan kropelnicki (Co-worker) on: Apr 13, 2024

I worked with Pat at the meter shop at Manitoba Hydro for about 5 years. Always witty with his replies. I told him once that he had the same smile as the Joker and that made him grin that much more. My condolences to the family. Rest in Peace Pat. - Posted by: Claude Berard (co-worker) on: Apr 13, 2024
