Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAURICE GERVAIS
My darling Maurice has gone home to be with Jesus his Saviour who loves him more than I ever could. As it says in the bible, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV.
Maurice will be loving remembered by his wife of 45 years, Emily, brother Paul Gervais (Carol), sister Pauline Legault (Cyril), sisters-in-law, Barb Klassen, Rita Clark and Lucienne Gervais, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Aurore Gervais, his sisters, Bernadette Beaudry (Hector), Annette Beaudry (Marcel), Lucille McCarthy (Frank), Eva and Yvonne Gervais, brothers, Adelard and Cyril Gervais, in-laws, Felix and Florence Paulson, Gerry Paulson, Richard Klassen, Chester Clark, and Lila Smith (Ed).
Maurice was born on the family farm near Elie, Manitoba, the baby of 10 children. He loved farming and helping his dad first and then Paul until his health would no longer allow him to continue. Maurice lost his mobility in 1964 using a walker first, then spent most of his life in a wheelchair. He met the love of his life Emily at Manitoba Sport and Rec. Maurice played basketball and Emily volunteered. They were married on October 21, 1978, and had much happiness. He enjoyed playing games such as chess and crib, watching wrestling, UFO sighting shows as he saw one once at the farm, old westerns, and many Christian programs.
Maurice did not like it when favourites were named but I would like to thank all the special people who took time to visit, care for and share your lives and get to know him. You know who you are, he loved you for caring for him, and making happy memories. Despite all the pain he endured he was kind, gentle, mischievous, fun, and nonjudgmental. He was a man of faith, laughter and love, my best friend on earth and a soft place to fall. I miss you, and I’ll love you 10. Always and forever, Emily.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Our Daily Bread Ministries Ca., PO Box 1622, Windsor, Ontario, N9A 6Z7 or MCC Disaster Relief. 100-140 Bannatyne Avenue, Winnipeg. Manitoba, R3B 3C5.
A funeral service will be held on Monday. April 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, located at 472 Kirkfield Street.
