LAURIE LYNN MACDONALD

(née MUSHMANSKI)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie Lynn MacDonald who died at the age of 55 on April 14, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by her father, John (1993), sister-in-law, Shelagh (2012), and mother-in-law, Moira (2023).

She leaves to mourn her husband, Kevin; her children, Caleigh (Carlos) and David; mother, Lorraine; sisters, Cheryl (Rob), Tracy (Chris), Kim (Richard); father-in-law Allan; in-laws, Maureen, Sean (Alicia); and many friends.

Laurie was born in Winnipeg to John and Lorraine Mushmanski, the eldest of four daughters. She graduated from Maples Collegiate in 1986 and went on to have a successful and rewarding career at Manitoba Hydro until her retirement in 2020.

After beating cancer for the first time in 2021, she and Kevin made the most of the years that followed, travelling throughout Europe, Mexico, and the United States.

She was a proud mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend, and took profound joy in the relationships that made her life so meaningful. She loved all of us so very much.

The family expresses gratitude to Ethical Death Care for their touching photo-biography video honouring Laurie's life, accessible through the 'tributes' link at the bottom of this obituary.

In accordance with Laurie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A family Celebration of Life will be arranged for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

  • I am shocked and saddened to hear Laurie is gone. I had the privilege of working with Laurie in the United Way’s 2000 campaign as a corporate representative of Manitoba Hydro. I remember her as an intelligent, engaging, ray of sunshine. She was articulate, supportive and seemed to love people. What a profound loss to her family and friends. I feel so blessed to have gotten to know her. I’m so very sorry. - Posted by: Veralyn Warkentin (Co-worker) on: Apr 20, 2024
