George passed away peacefully at Kildonan Personal Care Home. He was pre-deceased by his wife Gloria and will be lovingly remembered by his children Douglas, Marcy (Mark) and Debra (Lance), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his surviving siblings and many nieces and nephews.
George was born in Gardenton, Manitoba and spoke often of his hometown. He lived most of his life in Winnipeg where he and Gloria raised their family. He worked for CN Rail for 35 years until his retirement and enjoyed gardening, listening to music, bowling and volunteering through which he made many lifelong friends. George was a staple on his street in Point Douglas for over 50 years with many of his neighbours looking out for him when he was living on his own following Gloria’s passing. He will be fondly remembered by all for his kindness and generosity, his ability to connect with people young and old, and for his witty sense of humour always accompanied by a twinkle in his eye.
We would like to thank the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Home. No funeral service will be held as Dad would not want anyone to make a fuss. A private celebration of George’s life will occur at a later date.
