WILLIAM THOMAS RIGGALL

Bill Riggall, 95 years of age, passed away in his sleep from natural causes on Sunday morning, April 21, 2024 at the Seven Oaks Hospital.

Bill was born on October 3, 1928 at the family farm in Stony Mountain, Manitoba. He was the second generation farmer and was the perfect example of a Canadian settler. Bill lived on the family farm with his parents all his life and enjoyed the family farm lifestyle.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Dorothy Riggall.

Bill was a generous Christian person and he was very well loved in his local community. He acquired great enjoyment from helping others and his family in Winnipeg and Stonewall.

In 2016, Bill sold the family farm and moved to River Ridge II in Winnipeg. During this time, Bill connected with his cousin, Geoff Erickson and his wife Audrey and they developed a loving relationship, spending many special times together. Bill always appreciated the excellent staff and doctors at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their kindness and well-being.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., 433 Main Street, Stonewall, Manitoba with reception to follow at the Stonewall Royal Canadian Legion.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I grew up about a half mile from the Riggall Farm and they were are closest "non family" neighbours. I loved going there with my family for a visit on a cold Manitoba winter evening to catch up on the latest neighbourhood news, share a cup of tea and pick up a basket of eggs. When I think of Bill I recall his genuine love of the land and the importance he placed of carrying on the proud tradition of farming in the Lilyfield area. Please accept my condolences on his passing and please know that my family had a great affection for him. • We always enjoyed visiting with Bill at our dad’s weekly Wednesday coffee afternoons. He was the sole remaining member. He enjoyed teasing dad when his great grandson came along and was named William Arthur after great-grandparents, saying that it showed he was more important because his name came first. Always got a laugh around the table. Fondly remembered by the McClure family. - Posted by: Cheryle and Don McClure (Friend) on: May 06, 2024
