It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lena on Sunday, May 5. Lena was predeceased by her husband, Alfred in 2002.
Left to cherish her memory are her son William, daughter-in-law Lee-Ann, grandchildren, Cheryl, Sharon and Bryon; great-grandchildren, Kersten, Deonte, Cairo, Mercedes and Lincoln.
Lena was born in Yugoslavia, then moved to Austria after the war where she met her husband to be, Alfred. In 1954 they were accepted for immigration to Winnipeg and after a few years they were able to buy a house in the North End where they spent most of their years.
Lena was also affectionately called Oma by her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and Oma, with a huge heart and a smile for everyone.
The last several years she had lived at a personal care home, Calvary Place. She had a smile for everyone, she was a happy soul! The staff there are all wonderful and will miss her very much.
You are Loved!
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Green Acres Funeral Home, 1 Green Acres Lane, Winnipeg.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, Oma, and great-Oma. I remember being at her house with my parents when I was a young girl. - Posted by: Rosemarie Smolik nee Ziesmann (Friend) on: May 10, 2024

I was very saddened to hear of Lena's passing. I met Lena while visiting my mother at Calvary Personal Care Home a few years ago. I found Lena to be such a sweet lady with a lovely personality. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: June Pospishell (acquaintance from Calvary Place Personal Care Home) on: May 09, 2024
