Marie was born July 22, 1931. She grew up in Whitemouth, where she met and married Henry in 1951. Marie started her married life as a stay-at-home mom, following Henry from Whitemouth to Birtle, Transcona, and then Steinbach, where she started her working career as a part-time Clerk at the Merit Store. Upon moving to Winnipeg, she worked as a Stock Clerk and moved up to Personnel Manager with K-Mart where she worked for 27 years. Upon retirement, Marie and Henry moved to Paradise Village in St. Anne. After Henry’s passing, Marie returned to Steinbach to Fernwood Place.
Marie devoted her life to family and friends, and was known for her big heart, hard work, dependability, and grit. She was always there to lend a hand or share a laugh. She was a great organizer and volunteered in her community and church.
Above all, Marie’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy in her life.
Marie was a devoted Christian and lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life.
The family would like to thank Marie’s friends at Fernwood for their friendship and support for Marie, and especially how they checked up on her in her final weeks.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, MB.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice.
