MICHAEL BRENT SIMPSON

October 3, 1951 - May 5, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael on May 5, 2024, at the age of 72.

He will lovingly be remembered by his wife and friend Karen; son Stephen; granddaughter Niyah; stepson Jason; brothers, Glen (Carol), Gary (Helen), and Darrell; and sisters, Louise (Nick), Donna, Leslie, and Shelly (Greg). He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Ida, brother-in-law Kevin, and infant daughter Danielle.

Michael grew up in Elmwood and attended Sir Sam Steele and Elmwood High School. He worked out of the IBEW 2085 Local for over 40 years. Michael worked all over Canada and the USA. He made friends all over. Some will remember him as "Tattoo".

Michael spent his retirement years going for breakfast with his friends Brent, Colin, and Richard (who is waiting for him in heaven). Of course, they had to wait until after 9:00 a.m. to go because Michael had to take his granddaughter Niyah, to school. Niyah was her grandpa’s world. Those two had a special bond. Niyah helped Grandpa plant the garden and flowers every spring, making sure he planted her favourites. Her love of gardening is because of Grandpa.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all staff at Riverview 3 East for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Maksymiuk and assistant Tamara, and Dr. Butler, and assistant Robert for all your care and support over the years.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Flowers gratefully declined. Please consider a donation to CancerCare, Riverview Hospital, or a charity of your choice.

Michael, we love you and will miss you. You will always be in our hearts.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I didn't know him well, but he was a friendly man who obviously loved his granddaughter. I walk my daughter Cassie to school (in Niyah's class) and would often walk by his house and walk to school with them. He always greeted me with a smile and would chat about the weather or something going on in the neighborhood. I'll miss those conversations. Thinking of Niyah. - Posted by: Bruce (Friend) on: May 12, 2024

  • Karen, Jason, Stephen, Niyah. I know I can’t make your pain go away, but I want you to know I’am here for all of you with a shoulder to cry on or a ear to listen with, or anything else you need. Love you all Marilyn and Harry and Family - Posted by: Marilyn Nickel (Friend) on: May 12, 2024
