GEORGINA SINCLAIR VEITCH MOFFAT

It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Georgina Sinclair Veitch Moffat, on May 23, 2024, at the remarkable age of 97.
Georgina was predeceased by the love of her life, George, in 1996, as well as her parents, Danny and Aggie Mills, her sister Maisie, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins back home in bonnie Scotland.
Georgia, as she preferred to be called, arrived in Winnipeg from Edinburgh, Scotland in the early 1950’s with husband, George. They embraced their new surroundings and eventually settled into their newly built home in St. James in 1968, where she lived independently until her passing. Georgia retired from Marks and Spencer, where she spent the last part of her career and developed many cherished friendships. She was also dedicated to her fitness routine, regularly attending aquacise classes at the Civic Centre with her pool friends, and committed to her daily home workout and stretching program. Ever sharp, she kept her mind active with the challenges of the Jumble, the Crossword, and the Crypto quote, often achieving a 100% success rate. An avid sports fan, she loved her Jets (since day one of the WHA) and Bombers. And, of course, no visitors allowed during curling finals or golf final rounds!
Left to celebrate her life are her son Alan, daughter-in-law Alyson, and grandchildren Scott and Alana (Patrick). And a must mention are her "boys" – granddogs Manfred and Leroy and great-granddogs Sulley and Angus. She is also survived by her son, George.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors and staff who chatted with her over the years and the caring friends who faithfully called and visited. Special thanks to Muriel, Zyna, Alberta and Irene; Mom loved you dearly and many times said, "They're just so nice to me."
Georgia will be remembered for her kind and loving heart, more concerned about everyone else first. Truly inspiring was her feistiness and determination as she faced life’s challenges. She was often heard encouraging herself, "Come on, Georgia, you can do this!"
Years ago, we made a pact: she would not move out of her house, that was her home and that's where she was staying and "there will be no more mention of it". She made it to 97 years and three months, just two days shy. We are so proud of you, Georgia. You did good. You did really good.
As Georgia requested, there will be no service, just a private family memorial.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice are appreciated.

You did good Mom, we'll miss you so much.

"Away you go now, don't worry about me, I'll be fine."
