I am so sorry for your loss. Darleen was indeed a sweetheart as I came to know her through her brother Dennis. Her love of Elvis, her sense of humour, and her caring nature made her so endearing. I'm sure that she will be greatly missed. Donna Glover Stittsville. - Posted by: Donna Glover (friend) on: Jun 20, 2025

I worked with Darleen at UM from the early 1980s until her retirement, and we stayed in touch afterward. Darleen’s den-mother personality and wonderful sense of humour brightened our days and smoothed many ruffled feathers. She didn’t stand on ceremony, and remained true to herself in every situation. Needless to say, Darleen was a favourite of students, instructors and staff. Darleen’s own family was her greatest joy and comfort. Watching them grow up, get married and have children of their own was also a treat for her colleagues and friends. My deepest condolences to Darleen’s family. - Posted by: Lori Wallace (Colleague and friend) on: Jun 21, 2024

My deepest sympathies to Darleen's family. I was blessed to work with Darleen for many years at the University of Manitoba. For a lengthy period our desks were right beside each other's. She was the office Mom. Her infectious smile made all our days better and her shoulder was one most of us leaned on at some point. She wore red lipstick, the best! She lived and adored her family. She loved you all so much and she shared many stories of your life with us in the office. May your memories give you a hug when you need one and when you hear an Elvis song, your Mom is singing loudly from up above. I will miss her dearly. - Posted by: Cheryl Hadaller (Work Colleague and Friend ) on: Jun 15, 2024

Darleen accepted me in her family 35 years ago when I met her daughter Linda. I always enjoyed her visits at each of our many homes over the years. Kind, devoted and always a ray of sunshine. I will miss you Darleen. xo - Posted by: Mike Harvie (son in law) on: Jun 15, 2024

My heartfelt condolences to Cathy, David, Linda and the whole extended Courrier and Pollack family. I know your hearts are aching from the loss of the amazing woman Darleen was. I had the pleasure of meeting her 27 years ago at the UofM, “I am your work mom” she would say and I sure felt the love; Dar always gave me great advice, a warm hug when needed, provided comical laughs, a drive to an appointment when I was unable. We had so many good times together, drinks after work with the girls at Boston Pizza, along with breakfast, lunch, and dinner dates; too many fun-filled adventures to explain. Dar, you will be dearly missed, rest in peace my friend, until we meet again. - Posted by: Michelle Kidd (King time friend and work colleague ) on: Jun 15, 2024

I would like to express my deepest condolences to Cathy, David, Linda, and all of Darleen's family. She was a special lady who lived life to the fullest. Her family meant so much to her and she loved every minute she spent with them. I was lucky to call her my friend for 35 years. Life won't be same without her smile, her laugh, and her twinkling blue eyes. - Posted by: Margaret McCorriston (Friend) on: Jun 15, 2024

With sincere sympathy to all of Darleen’s family. Darleen was a kind and gentle work friend who always remembered my daughter’s birthday and age as it was the day Darleen had her first cancer surgery. Darleen always took the time to stop by and ask how my daughter was doing. Darleen was also very supportive and kind to one of our staff who was not always accepted and included by others. Darleen will be remembered fondly and with her beautiful smile. - Posted by: Maureen Forrest (Work Colleague and Friend ) on: Jun 15, 2024
