It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Viola at the age of 97 years.
Vi was predeceased by her husband Absolom (Abbie), son Larry, daughter Laraine, son Norman, sons-in-law, Don and Doug, parents, Otto and Irma Johnson, and five of seven siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diane, Bev, Eleanor (Bernie), Kris (Rob), Val (Rod), sons, Dennis (Roxanne), Ryan (Kathy), Calvin, daughter-in-law Karen, son-in-law Drew, 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and sister Verda.
Mom and Dad married in 1943, raising their family in Carman then settling in Winnipeg. Mom was a homemaker until the youngest was in school, working at Eatons then the Taxation Centre.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, scrabble, card games, bingo, bowling and playing VLT’s. She loved camping, swimming, travelling to BC in their camper van, vacationing in Hawaii, England, France and the Dominican Republic. Mom always loved family gatherings. Her family was very important to her, with four generations celebrating her 90th birthday.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the 5th floor staff at Golden West Lodge for their kindness and compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
