FRED SOKOLOSKY

Fred Sokolosky, beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024, at the age of 82.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Donna and their two children, James and Jeff (Joanna); granddaughters, Sydney and Madison.

Fred was born on June 5, 1942, in Winnipeg, MB to Joseph and Anne Sokolosky. He attended Tec Voc Vocational School and later worked for Canadian Pacific Railway. Fred later received his Red Seal as steamfitter and worked with numerous companies until he landed a job with the Government of Manitoba.

Fred retired at the age of 60 years old from Red River Community College. During his retirement he started enjoying cottage life with his wife Donna where he spent precious time with family, especially his granddaughters.

Fred will always be remembered for his kind heart, funny jokes and unwavering loyalty and respect to his family and friends. Fred had a passion for hunting and fishing with family and numerous friends.

Fred belonged to the Heather Game and Fish Club in Lac du Bonnet for numerous years, where he and his wife would go to their trailer and participate in functions and summer and winter gatherings.

After selling their place in Lac du Bonnet, he ventured his way out to Minaki, Ontario to purchase a cabin to be closer to the boys. He loved getting out on the water to fish for walleyes and fished in numerous tournaments. Fred also loved walking down to the government dock and would sit there for countless hours with his wife and family to catch pickerel.

In addition to his immediate family, Fredie is survived by his siblings, Darlene Jordan and Joseph Sokolosky (Rosita), numerous nieces and nephews and his favourite nephew Dale Jordan (Tracy). He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service as per Fred’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice in Fred’s memory.
