Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD MICHAEL VOLK
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden, unexpected death, due to heart failure, of Donald, at home.
He is survived by his father Ronald (Laurie); mother Nadia (Jim); brother Paul (Karen) and sons; sisters, Jennifer and son, Christina, Jaclyn (Jonathan) and family; and stepsister Jennifer; along with an aunt, uncle, cousins, and extended family.
Donald grew up in East Kildonan and attended Angus McKay, John Henderson, St. Alphonsus schools, and graduated from Kildonan East Collegiate.
He found his calling as a long-haul truck driver. He loved being on the road and travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. After working out of Ontario for over 20 years, he decided to make Winnipeg his home base.
He enjoyed watching his Toronto Blue Jays. As per his wishes, his eyes were donated to the Organ Tissue Bank.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 260-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or a charity of your choice.

To begin with I'm in total shock recently learning of Don's passing. My sincere condolences to Don's family... I first met Don up on the winter ice roads to Shamattawa back in 2008. We established a fast friendship that lasted right up until his passing. This is so bizarre with him recent having his eyes done so he could continue driving truck. He had himself his own truck 🚛 a canary yellow Kenworth. I quickly changed his handle of "Spidey" to "BIG BIRD!" I warned him he would awaken to TWO large decals of big bird on both doors 😀! I think the truth be known I think he started sleeping with one eye open! We always kept in touch with one another as we both criss-crossed highways both here and in the states. I'm beside myself to learn of his demise as he was walking around like a proud peacock after loosing a considerable amount of weight over the past year after learning he had diabetes. He did really well in spite of his daily beer. There's a lot more I could say but it's rather too personal to share on here. Simply out of respect... He will be greatly missed by me and a great number of others...REST in PEACE DON.... - Posted by: Michael Risk (FELLOW TRUCKER (FRIEND)) on: Sep 23, 2024
