On Sunday, July 21, 2024, our dear mother Genia (Jean) Capar passed away peacefully in her sleep. Genia was a month short of her 97th birthday.
She was predeceased by her husband George of 57 years, her son George Jr., and her parents, Dmytro and Hanuska. She was the youngest of 10 children all of whom are deceased. Six sisters, Ann (Joe) Smyrichsky, Mary (John) Goy, Stella (Ed) Swidersky, Margaret (Bill) Danylchuk, Francis (Pete) Kuchma, and Nettie (Mike) Monastersky; and three brothers, Tony (Kate), Alex (Ann), and John (Francis).
She leaves behind four sons, Ronald (Marsha), Dan, Rick (Alanna), and John (Bonnie); grandchildren, Nick and Baillie, Lisa and Jeremy, Jennifer and Osman, Aaron, Dylan and Asta, Kaylee and Lance, Kate and Tyler, Jeremy and Blair, and Gene and Amanda and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mom was a talented artist and her watercolours were prized. She told me in her 80s that her greatest regret was not going on a trip to Italy with her art group, She was always dressed fashionably. She loved all her family equally. She was especially fond of her caregivers at Poseidon Care Home in her last years.
Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held in the future.
