ANNE LECLAIRE
Anne LeClaire (nee Ferens), 93, a beloved Mother, Auntie, Baba, and Babcia, passed away from a stroke at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre on July 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 28, 1930, on the family farm and within the Ukrainian community of Green Oak, Manitoba, Anne’s life was one of selflessness, consideration of others, hard work, and enduring love.
Leaving the farm for Winnipeg in 1949, Anne worked as a clothing model before meeting and marrying Ernest (Ernie) LeClaire in 1952. Anne and Ernie raised five children and celebrated 52 years of marriage at their home on Rathgar Avenue before his passing in 2004. Anne had become a city girl but remained a farm girl at heart.
Anne took great pride in her work of 25 years with Ritz (later Marriott) Food Services at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, promoted to "Manageress" of the Park’s many restaurants and concessions, until her retirement in 1994. Anne was a nurturing mentor to her many young staff. Her loving and caring heart extended to children and animals in need within her neighbourhood, where she shared whatever she could to fill empty bellies or give shelter.
Anne is now the guardian angel of her family, whom she loved unconditionally: daughters, Denise LeClaire (Harry Wong) and Janet LeClaire; sons, Barry (Deborah Brendt), Dale, and Chris (Heather Ferguson) LeClaire; grandchildren, Wendy (Lyle) Laurila, Brandi (James Spiers) LeClaire, Sara (TJ) Spence, Malcolm (Mandy Ferrari) Richmond, Julian Richmond, Ryan LeClaire, Alexandra LeClaire, Jocelyn LeClaire, Jaelle LeClaire, and Justin LeClaire; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Laurila, Gracie Spence, Colton Laurila, Karly Spence, Ella Spence, Daxon LeClaire, Arthur Richmond, and Oliver Richmond.
Anne is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Ernie; eldest son, Maxim; father, Andrew; mother, Sofie; daughter-in-law, Jackie (nee Bouchard, wife of Dale); brother, Nestor; and sisters, Nellie Kozak, Eva Singbeil, and Stephanie Blanchette and many others in the Ferens and LeClaire families.
Anne had the biggest, kindest heart, and was beautiful in both face and spirit. In honour of our Mother/Baba/Babcia, laugh as much as you can, go for a long walk, and hug your children and pets with all your heart.
A big thank you to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre. Your compassion is truly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada at www.heartandstroke.ca

She is patience, well liked, respected and many learned lots from her in many aspects of work and life .. myself included.
