Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) ANDREW KURZ
Bob passed away suddenly but peacefully on August 3, 2024, after a lengthy 18-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marianne; two sons, Michael and David (Samira); brother Brian (Lauretta); brother-in-law Donald Suwala; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob began his career as an apprentice electrician in construction. He later acquired his designation as a certified Electrical Engineering Technologist and worked at Manitoba Hydro for several years before pursuing a career as a vocational teacher to share his passion for electrical and electronics at Tec-Voc High School before moving to Kildonan East Collegiate. While teaching full-time and raising a young family, he received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba. Bob led some of his students to win competitions at Skills Canada and the Manitoba Robot Games, and he taught summer and weekend electronics classes for kids interested in the STEM fields.
His interests included computers, robotics, and photography. In retirement, he took up lapidary and expanded his collection of rocks and minerals.
For the last ten months, Bob resided at Golden Links Lodge. Sincere appreciation to the staff and medical team for their care and compassion.
His wishes were for a cremation and no funeral service.

Bob and I were cousins. I was born in 1947 and Bob two years later in 49. Sometimes cousins will argue, but Bob and l never did and always seemed to be on the same wavelength. Despite his being two years my junior, it seemed that I was the one always asking for advice….especially for anything technical, mechanical or practical. And he was always willing to provide numerous (and sometimes lengthy) solutions to help me come to the right decision. Bob and I were cousins. I’ll miss him. - Posted by: Mark Stewart (Cousins ) on: Aug 13, 2024

My heartfelt Condolences to the Kurz family. I grew up with Bob and Brian as we were neighbors. In fact Brian and I were close friends. Even as a kid I came to know Bob as being highly intelligent. Truth be known I was jealous of his Cuda after he purchased it. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. - Posted by: Bob McLaren (Friend) on: Aug 10, 2024
