MARIE NORTON
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother on August 23, 2024, at the age of 94, with her daughter Kathy by her side.
She was born in The Pas, Manitoba to the late Ernie and Lillian Barr.
Marie will be remembered most for her zest for life, sense of humour, kindness and caring nature, and ability to arrange social events with her numerous groups of friends. If you needed a party organized - call Marie.
She worked for many years as a legal secretary with various law firms in Winnipeg, and after retirement went on to volunteer with Meals on Wheels, St. Bernadette Parish and The House of Peace.
Her true love in life was being with and taking care of her family. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, always there to listen, laugh, encourage and love.
Predeceased by her first husband Joseph Tiller and her late husband Wynn Norton, sister Joan Allison and brother James Barr. Left to cherish her memories are her three children, Bruce Tiller, Jeff Tiller (Rhonda), Kathy Peters (Sandy), and her grandchildren, Josh (Megan), Evan, Robert and Troy.
She is also survived by her siblings, Bobby, Eddie, Kathi and Joey and many close nieces and nephews.
The family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life at Dakota Community Centre, 1188 Dakota Street on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dear Kathy and Family, We had many opportunities to spend time with Marie over the years. My Mom Denise Kotowich was great friends with Marie along with the rest of "The Festival Girls". She had a vibrant and boisterous personality that was contagious and brightened the scene for everyone she was with. We had many laughs and good times at wedding showers, fall suppers, and all sorts of gatherings large and small. She will be missed by many. I'm pretty sure that she and my Mom along with a few others that have passed are all having a he** of a good time together now! My deepest condolences to you and the family. I first met Marie in 1972 when I moved to Winnipeg and went to work at Walsh, Micay. Notwithstanding quite an age difference we became very close friends and she took me under her wing. She invited me to join a group of ladies that met monthly to play cards. And that group became known as The Rummoli girls. Our monthly card games became monthly dinner parties, which we took turns hosting. We celebrated birthdays, weddings, babies being born and so much more. Marie was the one usually getting things going, and was always in charge of choosing the birthday presents. Marie was an incredible host, always extremely well dressed and so fashionable and was always there to listen when anybody was going through a rough patch. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile will never be forgotten, and she will have a place in my heart for ever. Rest in peace my dear, dear friend. - Posted by: Sharon Greenberg (Close friend) on: Aug 29, 2024

So sorry to hear of Marie’s passing. What a beautiful woman she was. She lit up a room with her lively presence, her beautiful smile and of course her boisterous and infectious laughter. What a joy to have had the pleasure of sharing her company at family parties on Autumnwood Drive and later on in life with ‘the folks’. She meant a great deal to all of us. - Posted by: Gina Hovorka (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2024

Marie was a wonderful friend to my parents Tunney and Virginia Hovorka. They’ve had many wonderful, wonderful memories and fun parties together. She certainly added a light to every room she entered. I had the privilege of joining them for a short time in Portugal while on vacation and it was so much fun. She was so funny and a faithful friend and she will surely be missed. Kathy and family, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She had a good life and enjoyed it to the end. She left us all with her great spirit, her zest for life and was a great inspiration to all of us who knew her. Although I may have lost contact with her over the last year or two, she will always be remembered and missed by our Rummoli group. My sincerest sympathy to you and all her family.
