Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNAHOM KINFE
It is with heavy hearts that we share that our loved one Nahom Kinfe passed away on August 21, 2024 at the age of 36. His loss was sudden and unexpected and his family is forever changed.
Nahom will be lovingly remembered by his partner Lauren LaFlèche; his children Luca and Kai; his mother Alem Seyoum Kinfe; and his father Tewolde Kinfe. His absence will also be deeply felt by his many relatives, friends and the community.
Nahom was born on June 11, 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He attended Holy Cross Elementary School and Kelvin High School, but graduated from Grant Park High School after moving for basketball. Nahom obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba in 2012. He worked much of his adult career with the Province of Manitoba, most recently working with Manitoba Finance. Extroverted and kind, Nahom collected friends everywhere he went.
Born of Eritrean parents, he was raised to value family and community. This was evident in how Nahom moved throughout the world. He showed these values in the way he honoured his mother and father, the way he loved and supported Lauren, and the devotion he had for his boys. In 2018, Nahom met Lauren and they quickly bought a home and filled it with pets and kids. His boys were everything to him and he loved getting them ready for the day, family time in the evenings and on weekends and cuddling them to sleep at night.
Nahom had dreams of sharing his love of sport with his boys, especially basketball. He was an active member of his community, serving as a basketball coach and mentor to many young athletes. Nahom’s passion for sports was infectious; he was a lifelong Lakers fan and he continued playing basketball up to the last week of his life.
Beyond his love for sports, Nahom was known for his kind heart, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He always went out of his way to help those in need and was a source of strength and support for everyone around him. Nahom’s sudden passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of all who knew him and his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends and the community.
A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Reception to follow.

We were so sorry to hear of Nahom’s passing. Though we never got the pleasure of meeting him, we got to know about him from Louis and Aline and they had nothing but good and praise of him. Our condolences to Lauren and family, his Mom and Dad, Lauren’s parents and siblings. Our sincere condolences at this time of grief, loss and sorrow. We are unable to attend as we have an app’t at the same time. Anita and Curt Wold - Posted by: Curt and Anita Wold (Friends to Louis and Aline) on: Sep 03, 2024

My sincere condolences to Nahom’s family. I worked with his mother Alem many years ago and remember Nahom’s birth and his first few years-he was such a lovely little boy and the pride and joy of Alem and Tewolde. A life taken far too soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to Nahom’s wife, children and parents and all who are grieving his loss. - Posted by: Barb Moan (Friend of Nahom’s parents) on: Sep 01, 2024

Nahom and I spent a great deal of time together at MTI. We enjoyed talking sports, laughter and both loved to eat. We even would go to Costco at lunch for samples. We had a special bond and always kept in touch even when he left MTI. My best memory was going to a Bomber game where we got on the field before the game. Nahom never kicked a football before but he nailed a bunch of field goals from long range. He was a good athlete. He was a gentle giant, easy to talk to and a lot of fun. His passing is hard to take. Love you man, miss you. - Posted by: ANDREW PATERSON LINDSAY (Work buddy) on: Sep 01, 2024
