Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD THIEDE
Ed, also known as Opa, passed away courageously and peacefully at home surrounded by so much of the family that loved him dearly and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Opa, “The Man, The Myth, The Legend”, is like no other person on the planet. Created in the image of God (Gen 1:27). A giant of a man that could never, ever turn away anyone in need of help or support. He had a very special spot in his heart for family, friends and those struggling with mental illness and addictions. A humble man grateful for those in his life and thankful for the grace of God.
Left to celebrate his life is his soul mate, wife and partner in life, Zena (Nana). For over 59 years these two were an incredible team that navigated through six challenging and wonderful decades together. Also celebrating his life are his four children, Ron (Karolyn), Brad (Christel), Janet (Mark) and Kris. Nana, Opa and Kris have been an inseparable trio for half a century.
Opa could not be more proud of his ten grandchildren and he never missed an opportunity to let them know. Aaron, Ethan, Abbey, Brayden (Sarah), Christopher (Marie), Breena, Christen (Michael), Brooklynn, Alex and Sara each had a unique and precious relationship with Opa that has had a profound impact on their lives. Instilling in each and every one of them his wisdom and life lessons in the most subtle of ways.
A common utterance from Opa was “It just doesn’t get any better than this.” We would love the see the look on his face when he sees how wonderful glory is, especially with a new body! John 6:37: All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. Opa absolutely “came to Christ” in his later years and we are overjoyed that God chose him.
The Celebration of Life for Ed Thiede will be on September 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
