Peacefully and surrounded by loved ones, Lorna May (Moysey) Warren passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 85, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
As with her life, her passing was on her own terms; while her absence will be greatly noticed, knowing that Lorna has joined her loving husband Bud, and son Rick, brings her family and loved one’s great comfort and peace.
Lorna is lovingly remembered by her family: daughters, Shannon (Rick), Kim (Nelson Madsen), Kerry and Deb (Howard Rybuck); grandchildren: Brett (Jenn), Kyle and Lyndsey; Melissa (Jesse Paradis) and Dillon (Karlie Gislason); Mitchell (Sara), Lukas and Devin (Lacie) Madsen; and great-grandchildren: Silas, Millie, Fletcher, Blair, Charlie, Eddie, Maggie and Clive. She was predeceased by her husband Richard (Bud), son Rick, parents, Lorne and Doris and sister Maxine.
Lorna's upbringing in Holland, Manitoba, alongside her sisters, Maxine, Marg, Judy, and Pat, shaped her into the caring and dependable elder sister her siblings could always rely on for valuable life advice.
The same qualities that drew the love of her life, Bud, to her in high school also began their love story. Bud used to sneak Lorna out of her bedroom window to attend dances, eventually leading to 61 loving years of family milestones, numerous road trips across Canada, and a lifetime of laughter together. Bud and Lorna got married in 1958 and had four wonderful children. Lorna worked at Kmart for two decades in Winnipeg and Toronto. When the company closed, just two months shy of her 25th year, she failed to receive the 25-year service diamond ring she was promised. She often joked about it with her grandchildren, and it was the source of many fond memories and laughter throughout their childhoods.
Family meant everything to Lorna. Whether it was a summer afternoon spent around the glass-top patio table in the backyard of their Charleswood home or the 25-person family trip to Las Vegas for her 84th birthday, Gran Bambi (a nickname coined by her eldest grandson) was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her ability to make anyone laugh with her cunning wit, sense of humour, and competitive edge when playing a round of cards.
Lorna spent her early days taking part in various rounds of curling, later retiring to watch the sport and catching a Blue Jays baseball game on TV. She was always game for a round of Canasta with friends at Sterling House and a family birthday trip to play the penny slots at the casino. Lorna was known for her love of anything to do with gardening and flowers; her green thumb will be her legacy. Her family takes comfort in knowing that a bouquet of fresh-cut sunflowers will always remind them of her.
We love and will miss you, Mom, Gran Bambi, and great-grandma. We all have comfort in knowing you are reunited with Dad and Rick, and the three of you will always be there watching over all of us.
To all our family and friends, please know we appreciate all of your love and support. A private ceremony will be held.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I met Lorna at the Charleswood 55+ center. I enjoyed playing Canasta with her. We had so much fun. My husband and I had the pleasure of enjoying a christmas lunchon at the center with Lorna and Bud where they served Lorna's delicious dessert. She will be missed. - Posted by: Marlaine Marshall (Canasta player) on: Oct 05, 2024
