Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (ERSZEBET) FUREDY
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that our feisty mother, Elizabeth, has peacefully passed away with her loving sons by her bedside.
Predeceased by her late husband Árpád Lajos (Lou) Füredy in 2020, she leaves sons Paul (Renée) and George, beloved grandsons Andrew Furedy and Avery Dawes, sister Agnes (Andy, nieces: Bronwyn, Claudia and Colleen), and brother Károly (Agnes, nephew: András/Andy), to miss her deeply.
She was an extremely proud mother and Grandma. She was especially thrilled that she was able to see her grandson Andrew very often and watch him grow up to be a fine young man, very successful in his career and extremely creative too. Just like his Papa Lou! She was equally proud of grandson Avery and his Law school and career accomplishments.
She also held the Bligh and Megrath families in Calgary near and dear to her heart: David Bligh Sr. (the late Elaine), the late David Bligh Jr. (Deidre) and Kyle Bligh (Livia); Vickie Megrath (Bill), Lorrie Ebersole (the late John), and Vance Megrath (the late Kathy). Mom was also extremely fond of and shared many happy moments with Ms. Charlotte Thompson of Ottawa, whom she considered a kindred spirit. Left also to cherish her memories are her treasured relatives in Hungary, Goddaughter, as well as her many comforting neighbours and friends.
Mom had a good life. We know she will always be in our hearts and be forever remembered.
Our family cannot express enough words our sincere gratitude for the care, compassion and kindness shown to her by Dr. Kass and the amazing team of doctors, nurses and health care workers at the Acute Cardiac Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. You all get a big “thumbs up” from Mom. God bless you all.
Her departing words … “Que sera, sera. Till we meet again. Continue to love one another.”
We love you, Mom!
We love you, Grandma!
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside ceremony will occur at a future date.
In lieu of flowers: Hug and kiss those you love. Treat yourself to a nice dinner. Share a bottle of your favourite wine. Enjoy being together. Egészségedre! (Translation: To your health!)
The family thanks Cropo Funeral Chapel for its photo biography tribute to our mom’s life, accessible through the ‘Tributes’ link at www.cropo.com

Ric was a long time friend of Lou’s. Rick is from Winnipeg but we live in Edmonton. Whenever we visited Winnipeg we always had a visit with Lou and Liz. Going out for a meal or just staying in the condo sharing a bottle of whatever the latest favourite was. Liz and I would share stories out on the balcony. Our deepest condolences. - Posted by: Tina and Ric Aseltine (Friends. ) on: Oct 16, 2024
