It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter “Wally” Timmins.
Wally was born in Winnipeg on February 10, 1947, to parents, Vera Tugwell and Henry “Hank” Timmins who are predeceased. He joins his daughter Denise Pfund and brother-in-law Bob Van also predeceased.
Wally spent his early years in Winnipeg and was raised by his mother alongside his surviving sister Lynda, whom he remained close to his whole life. Wally had many adventures throughout his young and rebellious years and had many stories of how he survived a dare or a trip on the road as a trucker. Family and friends often told him he should write a book about his adventures, as they were endless and entertaining as he was such a great storyteller. His favourite pastime was to visit friends and family over a good cup of coffee and a good meal or dessert. Wally also loved his drives to watch floatplanes or ice fishing along the river by Selkirk, MB. He loved golf and his breakfasts at Shooters Golf Centre and Restaurant who became his extended family.
Wally was a professional driver for most of his life and would travel to remote isolated communities including travel on the ice roads. He would often say, “Ice-road Truckers is all fake.”
Wally was an avid member and supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step program for 32 years. During this time, he became a strong supporter to many and touched many people’s hearts. His kindness and strong desire to help others was immense and he would never hesitate to help.
Wally leaves to mourn his cherished memory daughters, Suzanne and Crystal; son, Ray (Tina); his grandchildren, Donavan, Kila, Melanie, Christopher, Devin, and Madison; his sister Linda; and nephew Trevor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Weston Legion, 1613 Logan Avenue. Lunch and refreshments will be served following a short service.

I worked with Wally at Searcy Trucking up to 2022. He was very knowledgeable about trucking and rules/regulations. He was one of those guys that would give you the shirt off his back and indeed he did one day. Well not his shirt but one of his old Paul's Hauling bomber jackets with the name on the shoulder which was also my name. We would always greet each other with "hey Wally how's it going ...or how's Wally doing today" Best of times drinking coffee and telling trucking stories with all the guys. - Posted by: Walter Prychodko (Co-worker Searcy Trucking) on: Oct 31, 2024
