With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother whom passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital at the age of 93.
Bernice will be lovingly remembered by her son Brian, daughter Beverly (Lee), granddaughter Laura (Kevin), great-grandchildren Lily and James, her brother Charles (Lynn) as well as many relatives in both the Jaworski and Solypa families.
Bernice was predeceased by her loving husband William of 64 years, her parents Michael and Anne Jaworski and her brothers Ron and Robert.
Bernice was born in Winnipeg and raised in the Gimli area and grew up on the family farm. She moved to Winnipeg in her late teens and worked at Eaton’s. It was during this time that Bernice and William started dating and eventually got married in 1952.
Once both her children were in school Bernice went to work for CIBC where she enjoyed a career of over 20 years at the Main Branch in the Richardson Building.
Bernice was an excellent cook and her meals were always enjoyed by family and friends. She was also a talented sewer, making numerous outfits for her family. Her favorite past times were playing bridge, bingo and gardening.
Bernice was a member of the Schoolmaster’s Wives Association of Winnipeg for many years where she made many lifelong friends.
Bernice enjoyed a long and happy retirement along with her husband William and family, enjoying many trips and their winter home in Mesa, Arizona.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Portsmouth for making her time there enjoyable. Thank you to all the homecare staff who were of great help to her during the last three years. A special thank you to Dr. John Mayba for his excellent care over the years. Also thank you to Grace Hospital for their compassionate care.
A private family Funeral Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation Inc. or to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
