With heavy hearts, we announce that Darlene has passed away at Riverview, from complications of Alzheimer’s.
She is survived by her only child, Dale (Tracy), grandsons, Blake and Brett; and brother JoJo (Rosita) Sokolosky (Dean, Tamala and Richard), and sister-in-law Donna Sokolosky (James and Jeff). Darlene was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Anne Sokolosky; brother Fred, previous partner Walter Lemecha, and the "love of her life" Kenneth Kube just recently.
Darlene was a proud honour student that later landed her first job with CNR, which took her to Zambia, Africa for a few years. After returning to Winnipeg, she worked in Finance until retirement, with Air Canada. The highlight of her senior years/retirement was the birth of her two grandsons whom she adored. A special relationship existed with each "angel".
Darlene was a wonderful cook, passing down her favourite Ukrainian recipes. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to visit many exotic locations.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted by the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
