Keith Kelly passed away at the age of 87 on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Fairview Home.
Keith was the third oldest of nine children born to Howard and Doris Kelly. He was born in his grandparents’ house that was on the shore of Clear Lake on January 24,1937 and raised on the family farm in Crawford Park, MB. At a young age, he started helping to provide for the family with hunting, trapping, and fishing. He also had a love for animals and a special place in his heart for his pet crow.
At the age of 14, he moved to Winnipeg and worked in a coal yard shoveling coal. Keith returned to Crawford Park and went to work at Artchers Riding Academy as a guide. At 18, Keith came to Brandon to work driving transport for McArthurs. During lay off time at McArthurs, he came back home and met the love of his life, Laureen, at Friths General Store in Onanole. Soon after that, they started dating, and a year later, they were married on November 19, 1960, in Onanole.
After they were married, they came to Brandon, where Keith continued to work at McArthurs, and they started their family.
Keith was a hard-working man. Loved sports, especially hockey and his beloved Montreal Canadians. He coached baseball and hockey, built an outdoor rink for his kids and neighborhood, as well as a volleyball court for his daughters. He was always front and center playing sports with his kids or fixing their bikes.
Keith was a loving dad, and that love continued fiercely with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He passed on a tremendous amount of knowledge to them all. Poppa will be greatly missed by them all.
Keith will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Laureen; children, Kim (Marianne), Kelvin (Kim), Lorrie, and Lynn (Paul); 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Keith was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and grandson Tyson.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Brandon Shrine Club, 1110 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
