LILLIAN MARY ROSS

March 27, 1940 - October 23, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother Lillian Mary Ross (nee Lepesko) of St. Clements, Manitoba on October 23, 2024. Lily passed away peacefully with family by her side.

Lily leaves behind her children, Linda and Chris (Pierre); granddaughter Heather (Kyle); great-grandson Logan; grandchildren, Derek and Chelsea; daughter-in-law Jill; and family friend Gary. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis, sons, Grant and Douglas, sister Emily Lutz, and parents, Vincent and Ann Lepesko.

Lily took great pride in her family and raising her four children on Cameo Crescent, in East Kildonan. She was the heart of the home; a gentle and kind soul who loved cooking and always made sure that no one ever left hungry. In 1986, Lily and her husband Dennis embarked on a new adventure and built the home of their dreams on the Red River. This is where Lily’s love of gardening, pickling and entertaining really shone. Her indoor solarium filled with plants thrived and brought her great joy.

Lily, Dennis, and their family would often spend summer weekends at their cabin at Star Lake where many good friendships and fond memories were made. Lily’s children and grandchildren meant a great deal to her. She would take them blueberry and mushroom picking on the hill behind the cabin which led to delicious blueberry pancakes for breakfast and fried mushrooms with dinners. There was nothing as delicious as a meal prepared by Lily.

Mom and Dad had an enduring love and were married for 63 years. We all take comfort in knowing that Mom is now at peace and together with Dad again. They will both remain forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the Betel Home of Selkirk for their care and compassion over the past seven months. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or an animal rescue of your choice.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

  • The end of an era. I lived right next door to the Ross's on Cameo Crescent and was/am a close and dear friend of Chris's. Every word of this obituary is correct! Mrs. Ross always had delicious baking on the counter that we all enjoyed and her pickled beans were the best!! I can still see Mrs. Ross sitting at the kitchen table on Cameo enjoying her breakfast and a read of the newspaper while I waited for Chris to walk to school with. (Chris always made me wait :)) The Ross's were among the first to install carpet in their kitchen, a brief fad in the 80s I think. I remember dropping a full, glass jar of mustard on that carpet! I was horrified!! Mrs. Ross kept such a clean home!! When we had to show her what I had done, she said nothing, she just got out her favourite appliance, her Kerby vacuum (which doubled as a shampooer) and set to work to remove the stain. All the Cameo Crescent parents could tell stories of the antics all us kids would get up to. Eaton's Place Chris! Mrs. Ross had to pick us up from that one!!! I remember the enclosure over the backyard pool. It was filled with thriving plants that Mrs. Ross tended to with a wonderful green thumb. She would get my Mom to winter some of them for her and we always hoped we could return them in as good condition as they were give. A tall order!! I have such fond memories of my life on Cameo Crescent and it's because of people like the Ross's who helped made it special and entertaining! - Posted by: Paula Husmann (Close family friend) on: Nov 02, 2024

  • Lil was such a fun kind and caring person. I have many fond memories of my husband Merv and I getting together with Dennis and Lil at their homes and their cabin. Always made you feel like family. I will miss Lil. As I miss Dennis, they were a team. - Posted by: Patti McCorrister (Dennis and Lil’s our friends since my husband Merv met Dennis at Manitoba Hydro ) on: Nov 02, 2024
