Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH AMELIA COOK
It is with much sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Amelia Cook in her 95th year of life.
Ruth was predeceased by Carl, her loving husband of 60 years; her parents, George and Annie; cherished children, Clifford Cook, Linda Cook, and Allison Kendel; and many other loved ones.
Ruth is survived by her beloved son Garth (Phyllis), daughter-in-law Marjorie, son-in-law Darren, her grandchildren, Melissa (Paul), Curtis, Chad (Coral), Brennen (Jaime), Amanda (Michael), Kelly (Scott), and great-grandchildren, Haley, Alex, Cillian, Lowick, Ana and Adam.
Ruth was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and spent her childhood living in various towns along the main line of the CN tracks including Redditt, Ophir, and later Dugald. She attended school in Dugald, and then Winnipeg where she found employment at the Eaton’s Department Store. Ruth found the love of her life in Carl, and they married in 1947. They went on to have four children and make homes in the towns of Glass and Morris before finally settling in Anola. In 1974, Ruth and Carl established the Anola Building Centre, and she successfully managed the business until her retirement in 1996.
Ruth was instrumental in creating the Sunrise Senior Lodge and was an integral part of the Anola and District Museum for many years. Together, Ruth and Carl enjoyed many years as snowbirds going to Arizona and making numerous lifelong friends. Some of their travel adventures took them as far as Hawaii and Australia. In her pastime, Ruth enjoyed baking cookies for her grandkids, reading, playing cards, knitting beautiful pieces of clothing, and later becoming a member of the local KnitWits club.
Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Springfield Place and Beausejour Hospital for their loving care over the years.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, MB. A private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s name to the Anola and District Museum (Box 153, Anola, MB R0E 0A0) or a charity of your choice.

We travelled to many places together as our common link was the Lumber Company's our families owned. Ruth's gentle manner and friendless was always a welcome experience. Her smiles came naturally and she talked lovingly of her family. Ruth and Carl danced beautifully together and she put up with Carl's constant humor with smiles of her own and sometimes a shake of her head. I remember she fell in Australia and sprained or broke her wrist. She just made light of the situation and carried on like it never happened. It was a great pleasure to know her and I'll never forget her pretty face and laughter greeting us when we met for the next adventure the trips had to offer. Peace be with you love Donna Smith. - Posted by: Smith Donna (Friend ) on: Nov 10, 2024
