On Monday, November 4th, 2024, Melvin Donald McLean (Donnie) passed away at Valleyview Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB.
Donnie was a resident of Valleyview for nearly 5 years. Quality of life for the past 3 years has deteriorated due to dementia.
Donnie attended schools in Fairfax, Elgin and University of Manitoba where he received his diploma in Agriculture. He was a very successful farmer in the Fairfax & Nesbitt district alongside his wife, Ruth (Rome) McLean. Once retired Donnie & Ruth moved to Brandon.
Donnie was a collector of baseball & hockey memorabilia over the years. His collection was worth thousands of dollars & displayed in the basement of the family home.
Donnie was predeceased by his wife, Ruth of 59 years, they were "always together"; parents, Gerald & Edith McLean; brother, Lawrence McLean and his in-laws, Edward (Buster) & Eva Rome.
Left to grieve his passing are his sister & brother-in-law, Muriel & Glenn Dudding, Lloydminster, Ab and his nephews Guy Dudding & Aliesha, Sylvan Lake, AB and Gavyn & his wife, Nicole of Lloydminster SK plus 4 great-nieces & nephews and their families, cousins & many friends.
Thank you sincerely to the staff on the third floor of Valleyview for their constant care of Donnie.
Thank you to Memories Funeral Home for all their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Donnie's life will take place in the new year.

Don't grieve for me for now I am free
My life's been full, I have savored much
God wanted me now - He set me free.
