Jacklyn Rena (Jackie) Herbert of Brandon passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 79 years.
Jackie was born in Georgetown, Guyana to Viola and Leon Stephenson on April 25, 1945. She trained as a nurse in St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, England during the 60s and then worked in The National Health Service. Jackie emigrated to Canada in 1975 and nursed in Brandon General Hospital for many years. Jackie was a founding member of the Advisory Council for School Leadership. She was the Chairperson for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Today and served with the Coalition on Alcohol and Pregnancy.
Jackie is survived by her daughters, Claire Reis (George), Fiona and Samantha, stepson Christopher Everard and her grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, Jessica, Everard and Viola. She is preceded in death by her husband Brian Herbert.
The funeral service for Jacklyn will be held on December 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the The Church of the Resurrection, Seventh Day Adventist Church Building, 3319 Park Avenue, Brandon with Reverend Jared Driscoll officiating. A private interment will be held in 2025.
