Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD KENNETH SUTTON
We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Edward Kenneth Sutton on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Riverview Health Centre, with his wife, Linda, by his side.
Throughout his lifetime Eddie had many roles, of which those most important to him were - loving and protective husband, son, brother, uncle and good friend.
Eddie is deeply mourned by his wife of 48 years, Linda Mayor; his sisters, Donna Sutton, Diane (Cec) Sereda, and Deborah Sutton; his nephews, Jason and Jaret Sereda, Wesley and Garrett Sutton; niece Terry Sutton; sister-in-law Maureen Sutton; their partners and families along with Linda’s siblings and their partners and families. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Grace Sutton (née Bruce); his brother Fred (Maureen); his great-nephew, Adam Sereda-Paul; Linda’s parents, Joseph and Ruth Mayor; and many aunts and uncles.
Born in Carman, Manitoba, Eddie’s early years (of which he had many happy and funny stories) were spent on the family farm in the Roland area. His family moved to Winnipeg in the mid-1950s and settled into Winnipeg’s West End area, where Eddie made many school friends. Some of his recollections of the antics and endeavors of his childhood and teen years in the 1950’s and 1960’s Winnipeg were priceless.
During his lifetime Eddie had a few longer-term jobs, but his main interest and focus was as an ACTRA member, which enabled him to enjoy the fun and challenges of the acting world in Winnipeg, the personalities, the skilled technicians and tradespeople, actors, casting directors and others. He has the satisfaction of knowing that he leaves recorded evidence of his acting and voice talents.
Over the past years Ed was elected to a few volunteer positions. As Entertainment Chair for the Pembina Highway branch of the Royal Canadian Legion he had the opportunity to meet and enjoy many musicians in Winnipeg. During his many years as Vice Chair of the MMF Prairie Buffalo Local and later as an Elder, he was able to meet so many people and their families who were exploring the histories of their Metis roots. Of particular importance to Eddie were his yearly presentations for Remembrance Day Ceremonies at either his Royal Canadian Legion branch or his ANAVETS branch. He felt this was one way he could acknowledge the lives and sacrifices of service members (and families), especially those exposed to the horrors of war.
Eddie wishes you all well as he leaves you – and he journeys on with the hope you will find your way to Peace on Earth, with respect and kindness toward your fellow human beings and the creatures of the world.
The family would like to thank the skilled and caring staff of HSC – GH3 ward and following that, the extraordinary individuals at all levels, of the Riverview Health Centre – Palliative Care ward 3E – who made Eddie’s end of life trip as comfortable as possible.
Cremation has taken place and as per Ed’s wishes, there will be no service. There may be a private family celebration of Eddie’s life at a later date. If you wish, a donation to Cancer Research or a charity of your choice will be applauded.

What a lovely tribute to Ed, Linda. I'm so sorry that long distance and too short visits to Winnipeg prevented us from getting to know him better. Gary and I send you our love. - Posted by: Trudi Margueratt (Friend) on: Dec 14, 2024
