It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nettie Basaraba (Lylyk) on December 26, 2024 at the age of 92.
She is predeceased by the love of her life, Nestor, her parents; Stefan and Hafia, and two brothers; Bill and Mike.
Left behind to mourn are her sons, Larry (Susan), Chris and Dennis (Jo-Anne); grandchildren, Tannis (Cameron), Darcy, Andrea and Jason and great-grandsons, Campbell and Marshall as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Nettie was born and raised in Pine River, MB, where she met the love of her life, Nestor.
They chose to head to "the big city" and called Winnipeg their forever home.
Nettie worked hard for many years at a paper bag manufacturing company, and got to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
Nettie was the hostess with the mostest. Her door was always open, the spare room was often occupied, and there was always more than enough food and laughter to go around. Her big heart will be missed dearly.
A funeral service will be held Monday, January 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers a donation in her name can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
