EDWARD (EDDIE) BARTLETT

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward “Eddie” Bartlett, beloved father and stepfather, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Eddie was not big in stature by any means, however he had a massive personality that made an impact on the lives of all who knew him. He was 80 years old at the time of his death.

Born on September 5, 1944, in Brandon, Manitoba. He was a loving father to Trent and Kimberly Bartlett. He became a cherished stepfather to Tracy Roberts, Todd Vinck and Dwayne Vinck when he married their mother Bonnie on July 29, 2006. His love for his family was immense, and he found great joy in their company.

Eddie worked at Pool/ Heartland as a cattle consignment buyer of over 40 years. In retirement, he took a job with Child and Family Services as a driver. He drove children to their appointments, school and for home visits. He loved spending time with the kids, and I am sure if you asked any one of them, he would have been their favourite driver.

Eddie was also an active and proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), where he dedicated himself to not only his own recovery but to helping others find their path to healing, often assuming the role of sponsor. He believed in the power of community and often spoke about the strength he gained from the fellowship and the sense of purpose it gave him. His commitment to AA was a testament to his over 30 years of sobriety. He was always willing to lend an ear or share his story.

In his free time, Eddie enjoyed fishing (particularly at his son Trent’s remote cabin at Paint Lake, Manitoba), attending meetings, watching the grandkids sporting events, spending time with his family and gambling a bit. In his younger years he had a passion for playing hockey, playing for teams all over the southwestern part of the province. As he got older, he still loved the game and was a huge fan of the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Winnipeg Jets. His off-color sense of humour, warmth, and kind heart left an indelible mark on the people around him.

Eddie is survived by his son, Trent (Angele) Bartlett of Thompson; niece, Corinne (Martin) Beaulieu; sister, Joan Imrie; stepchildren, Tracy (Guy) Roberts, Todd Vinck all of Brandon, Dwayne (Tyla) Vinck of Calgary; and stepgrandchildren, Courtney, Quinton, Megan, Sarah, Jared and Brendan.

He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Betty Bartlett; loving wife Bonnie Bartlett; beautiful daughter Kimberly Bartlett; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial Service will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, MB on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eddie’s memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room 1160 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg MB R3E 0V9.

Though his journey on this earth has ended, the legacy of “Fast Eddie” will be shared amongst all who knew him and his stories will continue to fill their hearts with fun and laughter. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Rest in peace, Eddie!
