FRANCES VICTORIA RASMUSSEN

December 3, 1923 - January 12, 2025

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Victoria Rasmussen on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Park Manor Care Home in Winnipeg, MB., at the age of 101.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Dianne Kruk, nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her husband Clifford and son-in-law Stan.

Mom grew up in Pine Ridge, MB. She had four sisters and two brothers. Mom at an early age worked at Pine Ridge and Elmhurst Golf Courses in the summer and then would go back to school in the fall. She worked for a family on Wellington Crescent as a nanny. Mom then met the love of her life, Clifford Rasmussen, when he arrived back from the war. They married on July 9, 1946 and moved to Eriksdale where his mom was residing. June of 1947, they had a baby daughter – Dianne Pearl. They lived in Eriksdale for four years and moved to Transcona. Mom worked at the Palma restaurant with her sister Rosie, then was asked to work at the Princess restaurant as head waitress. Mom decided to stay at home. She joined the CWL, and was convenor at a lot of their events, and received her 50 year pin. That was a proud moment for her. Mom’s passion in the winter evenings were crocheting or knitting. Mom knitted scarves, mitts, but the little dolls that she knitted for children in hospital receiving cancer treatment was her pleasure. She got a few ladies together and they would do this once a week in an afternoon. Overtime, the estimation was over 10, 000 dolls. She was recognized for this by the Children’s Hospital. In the summer, her passion was tending to their roses.

In 2009, Dad and Mom moved to Transcona Place where she became the organizer of their events. Dad passed, and in 2020 Mom’s new home was Park Manor Care Home. Once again, my mom was the social butterfly. She was on the event board and participated in a lot of the activities that were held for residents. Mom was so happy at Park Monor right up to the end.

I would like to thank all the staff at Park Manor Care Home for their kindness, care and compassion over the four years Mom was a resident. A thank you to Dr. Poole and Dr. Grace who looked after Mom over the years.

A private Celebration of Life has been held with interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Park Manor, 301 Redonda Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2C 1L7

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Frances. What can I say. You touched my heart the moment we met. I loved sitting with you and you telling me stories of you and Cliff. The tiara I bought you for your 100th birthday is a symbol of the Queen you were. God bless you and I will never forget you. ♥️ - Posted by: Michelle Metselaar (Former volunteer at Park Manor) on: Jan 18, 2025
