Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTINE HANKE
Peacefully on January 16, 2025 at Maples PCH, mom went home to heaven.
She will be deeply missed by Edward, her beloved husband of 63 years; children, Chris and Kim (Grant), Scooby, grand-dog Enzo and sisters-in-law, Joan Hanke (Rod Feller) and Judy Zoltai (Stephen).
Mom enjoyed her annual family trips to Longboat Key, Florida and visits to Minneapolis with Chris and Kim for shopping and Bruce Springsteen concerts.
Her favourite seasons were spring and summer, when she could putter in her flower beds which she took great pride in. She also enjoyed attending Blue Bomber games to cheer on her team.
Although our hearts are broken, it was difficult to watch our lively, intelligent, beautiful mom in her struggles once she was diagnosed with dementia and we are comforted knowing she is at peace.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Maples – Unit 2 West – you took such good care of mom and made her feel at home.
Mom, we will miss you always and love you forever.
Donations may be made in mom’s memory to either the Winnipeg Humane Society or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
A private family burial will take place.

Our Deepest Condolences to the Hanke family. Mrs Hanke Gained her Angel Wings and is now enjoying Peace with my Mum and Sister, I grew up all my life couple doors down from the Hanke family, being friends with Kim there was a lot of memories with Mr. & Mrs. Hanke, Christopher and Kim for 25 years. Mrs. Hank always had a beautiful yard with tinkering with her flowers in the Summer. Mrs. Hanke always liked to chit chat especially sitting in the back yard on the deck while Mr. Hanke would smoke a big cigar. Mrs. Hanke May You Rest in Peace and do a lot of gardening up in Heaven. I was very saddened to read of Chris' passing.. I have such fond memories of our school days together and recalling her many funny, unique "and very original "sayings"! When another school chum friend, Glenda, and I would call on Chris for school, we always enjoyed our visits with Mr. & Mrs. Smith.. I think Christine inherited her wit from her Father! My sincere condolences to Ed, Kim and Christopher.. RIP Chris... - Posted by: Joy French (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2025

I first met Christine probably around 50 years ago when I started school at Margaret Park and met her son Chris. Through the years as we grew up I got to know Chris's family well. Christine and Ed were always kind and a great hosts. In later years my girlfriend Destiny started to spend time with all of us with many visits to the Hanke residence. We both have so many wonderful memories of times there and especially of Christine. She was always welcoming and made us feel like we were part of their family. She was most happy when everyone was there together. There was much conversation and lots of laughter. Chris, Ed, Kim and Grant we share in your loss and send you our thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Rob, Destiny, and Mathieu. - Posted by: Robert and Destiny Ferrand (Friends) on: Jan 20, 2025

I worked with Chris for many years at Canada Post on the city floor sorting mail. Loved hearing her stories about their trips to Florida and her funny Ed stories. Her kindness to me and my family when my son Cory suffered an accident will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Chris. Sending my deepest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Jo Wardekker (Co-worker) on: Jan 18, 2025
