It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Alice Pestaluky, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the St. Norbert Nursing Home.
She will be deeply missed and always remembered by her two sons, Wayne Pestaluky and Garry Pestaluky (Maria), her grandchildren, Lisa Wessner (Scott), Melanie Thwaites (Mike), Amber Pestaluky, and Tiffany Young (Jade), and great-grandchildren, Halle, Ty, Jackson, Caiden, Grace, and Andrew.
Alice was born on February 4, 1927, in Langenburg, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Hemauer and Annie Van Caeseele of Langenburg, SK, brother Andrew Hemauer of Port Colborne, Ontario, and is survived by her sister, Clara Renschke of Langenburg, SK.
Alice came to Winnipeg in 1940. She met and married her beloved husband, Michael Pestaluky on October 27, 1945. They were married for 69 years and blessed with two children. Alice worked as a private aesthetician and was employed by Kmart in women’s fashion until she retired. She was a member of the Belgian Club and was a very talented crafter, sewer, crocheter, gardener, and an amazing cook. She enjoyed participating in local craft shows and playing cards with family and friends. Alice was creative, energetic, and was always there to love and take care of her family. She loved music, singing and dancing, reading, swimming, being physically active, and her little dog, Brandy.
Her family would like to thank the St. Norbert Nursing Home for their care and compassion during her time living there.
A service for immediate family was held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and a private family interment will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home & Cemetery at a later date.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your mother Wayne and Garry! My family lived at 76 Bristol for many years so we grew up with both of you. Your Mom and Dad were great neighbors and when I visit Winnipeg and take a drive down Bristol I always look to see if the pigeons were still flying. Take care and my condolences to all your family! Best Regards, Shirley - Posted by: Shirley Gauthier Sarafinchan (Neighbour on Bristol) on: Jan 26, 2025
