VALERIE BRAKEL

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Brakel on January 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Valerie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend who brought warmth and laughter to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Rick, and their children, Brett, Allison, Scott, and Caitlin, who were her greatest pride and joy. She is also survived by her sisters, Donna and Cheryl. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Dorothy and Willie.

She cherished summers spent at the trailer in Seven Sisters, where she found peace and happiness among family and friends. Valerie also had a deep passion for hockey, spending some of her most cherished years working for the Winnipeg Jets - though, to everyone's amusement, she remained a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan.

Her kindness, humour, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of Valerie’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honour her memory by spending time with loved ones, watching a hockey game, or enjoying a peaceful summer evening by the lake.
