STEVE DIDUCK

1931 - 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Diduck at the age of 93 on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Rest Haven Personal Care Home.

Steve was predeceased by his wife Florence (Castonguay), his son Neil and his brother Emil. He is survived by his daughter, Lynne (Randy), his brother Ernie and grandchildren: Michael (Stephanie), April, Jordan and Stefanie (Nory).

Steve grew up in Yorkton and Biggar, Saskatchewan. His job as a teenager, (delivering bread) led to the meeting of Florence, his wife of 55 years. They built a home in Saskatoon before moving with their children to Winnipeg. Steve began working for CN Rail at a young age and eventually became Supervisor of Accounts Receivable at the station in downtown Winnipeg.

Steve loved the outdoors. He was an avid gardener who always had plentiful amounts of seedlings growing in his basement. Steve also loved golfing. He would get up before the sun came up to be out on the course. His love for fishing took him on yearly trips to remote parts of Manitoba.

Steve also loved his family. He was very proud and supportive of his grandchildren’s activities and achievements.

Steve was a very kind and thoughtful man, who will be missed greatly.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Highway.

Donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Sorry to hear of Steve's passing he will be greatly missed in the neighbourhood. He would always go for a walk and end up at my place and we would talk endlessly about my garden and all my plants, and all the ones he had. Even when he had his home care worker take him for walks they would stop and say hi. May he be at eternal rest. - Posted by: Alice Gulenchyn (neighbour) on: Feb 13, 2025

  • I was looking for a friend's obit and I say Steve’s I worked for CNR in Saskatoon and knew Steve and some time after Steve got transferred to Winnipeg I got transferred and was head of the rating of carload billing and worked with Steve. When I bought my first house I was a few blocks from there house. I used to ride to and from work with them. I remember that old black car He hated to put gas in it so would only put $5.00 in st a time. We ran out of gas more than once. Also the windshield washer did not work so Steve had a squirt bottle and would open the window and drive with one hand and rach out with the other and squirt the window. His wife and I had a few laughs over that. I moved to Vancouver Island almost 30 years ago and we would often wonder about them. I am sad to hear of his passing but happy that I stumbled over his obit. I am 85 myself and my body is getting weaker by the year. As a Catholic we will pray for him - Posted by: Randy Schmidt (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2025
