Slawoj Czarnecki passed away, with family by his side, on February 5, 2025, at Concordia Hospital, at the age of 78.
He was predeceased by his mother Salomea and father Jan. Slawoj is lovingly remembered by Anna, his daughter Magda, son-in-law Corey, his granddaughters, Waleria, Zora, and Adelina, as well as friends and family in Poland.
Slawoj was born in Bielawa, Poland. He often shared stories about his wild childhood adventures: skipping the first days of school, stealing apples and cherries from the neighbours’ garden and buying pigeons against his parents’ will. Slawoj lived in Greece prior to immigrating to Canada. In Canada, he worked as a glass worker. Slawoj enjoyed spending time reading, staying up to date with Polish politics and enjoying the outdoors. Fishing, mushroom picking and cycling were a few of his favourite activities. He loved planting numerous tomato plants in his garden and walking his dogs. When his first granddaughter was born, their immediate connection was noticeable. Slawoj was proud to share his Polish heritage with his granddaughters.
The family would like to sincerely thank all the medical professionals who helped Slawoj in his fight against cancer.
A prayer service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Parish, 341 Pritchard Avenue.
