GEORGES LAFRENIERE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Georges LaFrenière (age 68) on February 21, 2025, in Winnipeg, following his battle with cancer.
Georges was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on March 14, 1956, to Jean and Suzanne LaFrenière (second oldest of four children). He will be fondly remembered by his four children, daughter Natalie (Bill), sons Eric (Dania), Rémi (Estele) and Pierre (Kara); and his seven grandchildren Thomas, Alex, Emily, Zoë, Nora, Arlo and Benjamin. Georges will also be sadly missed by his girlfriend Karen.
After graduating from the University of Winnipeg, Georges spent over 40 years as a well-respected surety bonding professional. He was dedicated to his clients and had many long-lasting relationships within the industry.
Georges was a loving father who cared deeply for his family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, travelling, and always supported his children in their sports and education. As a passionate and talented musician, he also liked to entertain family and friends by playing the piano and accordion.
A private celebration of life will be held in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Georges' passing. We had many memorable experiences as teens and young adults, both graduating from Ecole Precieux-Sang. Perhaps my most memorable was being a band-mate of his at 100 Nons and with the band Bauchaud along with such other great musicians as Roland Roch and Tom Ivory (both having recently passed); who Georges joins now to accompany them on keyboards. - Posted by: Jean-Paul Boily (Friend) on: Mar 20, 2025

I enjoyed the emails that Georges sent to the office for me to courier documents out to his clients. He was dedicated to his work and I enjoyed asking him what he was up to for the weekend! Kind memories! - Posted by: Belinda Trupish (Administrative Associate/co-worker for over three years) on: Mar 13, 2025

I had worked with Georges for 25 years this year and have so many fond memories as we'd venture out to visit mutual clients together. Georges was always interested in the personal struggles of clients/friends and I loved watching over the years how he helped his children with letters and applications to travel or play on special hockey teams. He adored them more than anything else in the world! I know that Georges knew the value of life and time with family and am confident that they all knew just how much he loved them. Georges will be greatly missed in this world..... - Posted by: Christie Marsh (Co-worker and Friend) on: Mar 03, 2025

Our sincere sympathies to the LaFrenière family and friends. We went to school with Georges at École Précieux-Sang from grade 1 to graduation in 1974. I dated Georges in the early 1970s and he was a very nice and thoughtful guy. Amongst many memories, I recall he liked to run in track events (he was a very good runner), and he enjoyed playing the organ. He really loved music! As is often sadly the case, you tend to lose contact with some friends as the years go by. Georges will always be considered a good friend. I have many fond memories of him. May you all find comfort in your precious memories of Georges and in the love and support of your family and friends. With our warmest thoughts and condolences, Norma (Blanchette) & Claude Brunel - Posted by: Norma (Blanchette) & Claude Brunel (Friends) on: Mar 02, 2025
