All who knew Terry realized he had a booming personality, so it is somewhat strange he passed away in a very un-Terry like fashion, peacefully at home on February 28, 2025.
Terry was born to William and Beth Lunan on September 8, 1951, in Brandon, Manitoba. Terry was the oldest of 4 children, the late Jacqueline (Randy) Smith, Douglas (Joanne) Lunan and Catherine Lunan.
He was able to see much of Canada before the age of 18 when he settled in Brandon and never left. It was then he met his late wife Joanne Pagan and had his two daughters, Tamara (Paul) Keesee of Jackson, Missouri and Stacey (Ryan) Hackett of Brandon, Manitoba.
He raised his daughters with the strength of a warrior, the kindness of a gentle giant and the sarcasm of a ... He married Brenda Blackshaw in 1992, and they shared almost 33 years of love and laughter.
Terry often said he “served a life sentence” at Brandon Correction Centre as a correctional officer, programs instructor and educator (where he was able to utilize his Bachelor of Education). Terry could impress with his Judo skills, (had the black belt to show for it), his hunting skills (has buck antlers to show for it), his woodworking skills and models. Terry was a history buff who took a specific interest in World War II.
Cooking was another skill that Terry possessed. His secret to his pork-chops remains with him and his grandsons always requested Beer up the Butt chicken, which came with a serious amount of jokes.
Terry enjoyed happy hours with Brenda, and played a mean game of Yahtzee, where the dice were often on the receiving end of a significant swearing. He remains the champ with a score of 625.
If you knew Terry, you knew he was sarcastic, had a questionable sense of humour and over the top dance moves. He was always up to paying for “good entertainment”.
The love of his family was greater than anything else in his life. He was cherished by his wife and adored by his daughters. His grandchildren Chael Keesee, Benson Keesee, Julien Keesee of Jackson, Missouri and Megan (Alex) Keesee-Burke of Oakland, California became the apple of his eye. It did not matter if he was known as Grandpa or Pappy as long as he took the advice of Grandma to not be a Grumpa.
Terry will be missed by all who knew him. He was one of a kind.
In keeping with Terry's wishes, there will not be a service at this time. There will be a casual get together to celebrate his life at a later date.

So sad to hear about the passing of Terry. He was such a vibrant, funny, and truly unique person. His humor and ability to comment on everything around him always brought conversation to any room. Whether he was sharing a funny story or commenting on the little things in life, he always had a way of making everything funny. His infectious personality and laugh always brought a smile. The laughter and memories he leaves behind will never be forgotten. I know how much he meant to you Brenda as you two were inseparable and our heart goes out to you, his children, Rocky, Catherine and Doug during this incredibly difficult time. Please know that we are thinking of you and sending love and support. Terry may no longer be with us, but the laughter, stories, and memories he left behind will continue for years to come. Wishing you strength and peace in the days ahead. Carla and Ron Proulx - Posted by: Carla Proulx (Friend of the family) on: Mar 11, 2025

I am so sorry to hear about Terry's passing. When I was 9 years old, I had spent a summer with Terry at Nanny Haig's place. Doug was with us. It was a summer that I never forgot. Granddad Haig was always getting up early in the morning and taking Terry out for treats at Annie's restaurant. Dougie and I felt that this was so unfair that we got up early and followed them, claiming our right for a treat also. The morning treats stopped after after Granddad found out. I am not sure if Terry forgave us! lol Terry was a great guy and is truly missed. - Posted by: Deborah Bethell (Cousin) on: Mar 11, 2025
