It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gail Elizabeth Josephine White. She was our cherished mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Gail passed away with her loving family at her side at Dinsdale Personal Care Home on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
Gail was born February 28, 1936, in the Birtle Municipality to Cecil and Margaret Smith. She was the middle child of three, raised on the family farm in Foxwarren, MB where she also attended school. Gail worked in the Foxwarren Co-op until she married her sweetheart Gordon Earl White, August 21, 1954, on the Smith family farm. They then moved to Brandon where they began and raised a family of four - Ken, Keith, Marie and Barb.
Gail enjoyed being a homemaker, loved to sew and knit clothes for her kids. She also loved to crochet, quilt and bake, dance and do puzzles with our dad before he passed. Gail's favourite thing to do was follow all her children in their endeavors and then the grandchildren when they came along. Gail enjoyed many family camping trips and once her children were grown, she enjoyed extensive travelling with her husband and sister-in-law. Her favourite spot was the cabin at Clear Lake where all the family would congregate. Gail was a member of St Mary's Anglican Church and a member of the Brandon Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary.
Gail and her husband Gordon resided in the East End (Percy Street, Rideau Street, Lions Manor) before her final residence in Dinsdale Personal Care Home.
Gail leaves behind her loving children, Ken (Holly), Keith, Marie (Bruce), Barb (Mark); grandchildren, Brin, Caitlin, Ryan, Zac, Courtney, Gabriel, Rylee, Seth, Kallie and Sydnee; and 16 dearly loved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Laurence; sisters-in-law, Georgeen and Angie Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Mom lost her partner in life, her husband Gordon in 2012. She is also predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Margaret Smith and her brother Rodney Smith.
Funeral services will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, MB on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. following a private family interment at the Brandon Cemetery Columbarium where she will rejoin our dad.
The family would like to very gratefully thank the staff at Dinsdale Personal Care Home for their dedication and compassionate care
If friends so desire, donations may be made in the name of her great-grandson " Gordie White" to the Fight for Gordie - CancerCare Manitoba, Room 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, which will aid in DIPG Research.
