DORA EILEEN BLANCHARD

(nee DEROCHER)

January 27, 1942 - February 6, 2025

Dora quietly passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 surrounded by her family at the age of 83.

While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Memories of Laughter, Love and a Life well-lived.

She will forever be remembered by her two children, Deborah (John) and Bonnie (Werner); four grandchildren, Steve (Vicki), Kyle, Harley, and Destiny; two great grandchildren, Damien and Thea; and by her brother Pat (Christine); and sisters, Margaret (Lorne) and Ruby.

Dora was predeceased by her loving husband Elmer J. Blanchard in 2010; and grandson Jessy.

Dora was born in Grand Prairie, AB. She had worked many jobs during her lifetime, including working as a telephone operator in Calgary, at a newspaper in Nova Scotia, and for the Federal Government in Winnipeg as an HR Director.

Dora’s Legacy is one of quiet strength and heart-felt generosity. She had the ability to make every encounter feel special and she made the people around her feel valued and loved.

In lieu of flowers, Dora just wants everyone to be kind to each other.

In Accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Debbie and family, hearing of Dora's passing left me so sad knowing we'll never see each other again. Also, I'll cherish the memories of our trips to Shooting Star. not just myself but Emily. I'll remember the time we got lost, thought we'd take a somewhat shorter route. We laughed so hard knowing now we were lost ha ha. If Dora is to be laid to rest with Elmer, as a friend I'D SURE LIKE TO KNOW WHERE so I could visit. Please reach out to Emily or myself. Rest in Peace my Friend. - Posted by: jenny (friend) on: Mar 16, 2025

  • My deepest sympathies to Dora's family. I have a lot of great memories from working with Dora at Parks Canada. We also used to go to bingo at Grand Beach together when I lived at Patricia Beach. RIP my friend. Pat - Posted by: Patricia Anne Isherwood (Friend and former coworker) on: Mar 15, 2025
