Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR BENSON PETERS
Arthur Benson Peters died peacefully on March 12, 2025, with family by his side, after 97 wonderful years. He is loved and missed by four generations.
He was born on the family farm at Cardale, MB on December 6, 1927, the second youngest of a family of five. Art married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Patricia Dalgarno, in 1949, at Marney, MB. They farmed in the Rapid City area and raised a family large enough for its own baseball team. Art was active in the community, including the school board, rink board, 4-H, baseball, hockey, curling and golf. At the age of 75, Art and Shirley retired to a condo in Brandon, which became the hub of family visits. In 2024, they were thrilled to celebrate their 75th Wedding Anniversary with their proudest achievement: their family.
Art was predeceased by his daughter Carol, son Harry and daughter-in-law Barb. Art was the last member of his family, being predeceased by his sister Olive, and brothers Kenneth, Wesley, and Donald.
Survived by his wife, Shirley, children Bev (barb), Doug (Judith), Gordon (Diane), Pat (Gene), David (Sharon), Karen (Mike), Cindy (Paul) and daughter in law Shannon: nineteen grandchildren, soon to be 31 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Audrey Peters.
His long life, full of mischief, charm and curiosity, and his gregarious nature was a gift to us all.
A Celebration of Art’s Life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, Brandon, MB on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, the family invites you to watch the livestream of the service, by visiting Art’s tribute page at www.brockiedonovan.com.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Art’s memory may be sent to Rapid City and Area Foundation at https://bacf.ca/rapidcityfund.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

Grew up together with Arthur as farm neighbours. We attended high school together at Cardale and got there most days on horseback 6 miles away. We played baseball and hockey together with Arthur and Donald. The Peters family were great neighbours and spent many hours visiting. Arthur was was always a tease and full of mischief for sure. In recent years we kept in touch by phone calls. He will be missed by many. Audrey and I send our sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Douglas M Gourlay (None (neighbour)) on: Mar 30, 2025

Condolences to Shirley and all of their family on the passing of Art. He will definitely be missed! Art was a kind, generous man with a great sense of humour. May all of your great memories of Art help you all during this difficult time. Sincerely Brenda & Butch - Posted by: Brenda & Henry Hales (family friend) on: Mar 26, 2025
